Cancer Screenings & When to Get Them
Breast Cancer Screenings: Women aged 45 to 54 should get mammograms yearly. After age 55, you can continue getting a mammogram annually or every other year. Depending on your family history, your doctor may recommend starting mammograms earlier.
Cervical Cancer Screenings: Human papillomavirus (HPV) tests and Pap tests are used to screen for cervical cancer. Women ages 25- 65 should get a Pap test every three years or an HPV test every five years.
Endometrial Cancer Screenings: Around the time of menopause is when you should begin learning more about endometrial cancer. Unexpected bleeding or spotting can be warning signs of endometrial cancer. Women with hereditary non-polyposis colon cancer (HNPCC) have a very high risk of endometrial cancer.
Colon Cancer Screenings: Regular colon cancer screenings should start at age 45 and continue until age 75. Your doctor will determine how often you should receive a screening.
